The collet and the union nut form one unit. Loosening the union nut from the collet is therefore pro-

hibited.
Be sure to read the corresponding information in the operating instructions of the router.

Contamination on the inner taper and on the collet can cause damage and loss of hold-

ing force when clamping the bit. This creates a high risk of injury.

22.2

Router Bits

The distinction as to whether the milling tool used is a router bit or a drill is defined in DIN EN 847-

1: End milling tools with a machining diameter smaller than 12 mm are by definition drills. The re-

quirements of the mentioned standard therefore only apply to end mills with a machining diameter

of 12 mm or more. However, they can also be applied to drills.
DIN EN 847-1 requires bits to be marked with MAN when used with routers. This means that the

milling tool marked in this way is suitable for manual feed and thus for use in routers.
DIN EN 857-1 also requires a marking on the shank up to which the bit must at least be inserted

into the collet.
Be sure to read the corresponding information in the operating instructions of the router.
