2. Lubrication
General
Regular lubrication will prolong the life of any embroidery peripheral, as well as also
minimize down-time and lost production time. A properly lubricated machine will
perform better, last longer, and help to create a higher-quality product.
To maintain the machine’s operating condition, certain lubrication must be
performed on a regular basis. This section will cover all routine operator lubrication.
Packed in the tool pouch is a bottle of light duty sewing machine oil for lubricating
various parts of the sewing head. Using a lubricant as directed will prolong the
productivity of your machine, but it should be used sparingly. Over lubrication can
cause mechanical and quality problems. For example, over lubricating the needle bar
can cause oil to drip onto the fabric you are sewing. Over lubricating the rotary hook
assembly can cause oil to be deposited on the bobbin thread which is transferred to
the fabric. Over lubricating the rotary hook assembly can also cause a build-up of
dust and lint that may bind the hook shaft.
For further information on adjustments and repairs that are not covered in
this manual, consult your particular machine’s technical manual or call your
local area service representative for advice.
