PROCEDURE FOR ENTERING NAMES AND OTHER TEXT
Names and other text are written using the number keys. Pressing a key selects the
character shown on the key. Pressing a different key moves the cursor to the right be-
fore selecting the next character for that key.* For example, to enter the name “SAM
SMITH" the first letter “S” is selected by pressing the key number 7 four times (i.e. the
first key press selects “P”, the second selects “Q”, and so on). Now press the number 2
once. This moves the cursor and selects the letter “A.” Continue selecting characters
from the keypad to complete your message.
By default, characters are displayed in upper case. To display lower case characters,
before you begin typing press the “A” key. (Refer to the diagrams shown in
.) Press the “A” key, as required, to toggle between upper
and lower case. You can have a combination of upper and lower case characters within
a name.
*Tip: When the character you want next appears on the same key as the character you have
just entered (e.g. you typed “P” and now want to type “R”), press the
VOLUME
+
or
V
key to
move the cursor to the right, then select the next character.
The
#
key is used to select the following special characters (in sequence of number of key
presses):
# space & ! : ? . , % $ - < > / = [ ] @ ^ ( ) _ + { } | ; "
