Preparing the Charger for Operation

2-Stage Charging Algorithm
: Bulk Stage
"
Float Stage. When 2-Stage Charging
Algorithm is selected, the Absorption Stage of the 3-Stage Charging Algorithm is
bypassed. This algorithm is suitable for operation as a Power Supply (
Section 8.3
) or as
a DC UPS (
Uninterruptible Power Supply
) in conjunction with a battery (
Section 8.4
)
DIP Switches “S1” and “S2” (
7 in Fig 3
) are used to select (i) either 3-Stage or 2-Stage
charging and (ii) the type of battery and associated Absorption Voltage level. For selec-
tions, refer to Table 7.1 for SEC-1250UL and Table 7.2 for SEC-2425UL
3-Stage charging is recommended when charging from (i) 1 Bank or, (ii) from 2 Banks
simultaneously (
provided the batteries in the 2 banks are in similar state of charge
)
2-Stage charging (
DIP Switches “S1” and “S2” are both in OFF condition
) is recommend-
ed under the following conditions:
• The charger is being used as a Power Supply (
Section 8.3
) OR,
• The charger is being used as a DC UPS (
Uninterruptible Power Supply
) in
conjunction with a battery (
Section 8.4
)

CAUTION!
Do not change the DIP Switch setting when the charger is operating. Always
change the DIP Switch setting when the charger is OFF, i.e. after disconnecting
the charger from the AC input power).
NOTE:
The voltages are for battery temperature of 77ºF / 25ºC.
