III.

Separate the Controller PCB and Keyboard PCB

Required parts:

Printed circuit board

As packaged in the kit, the printed circuit board (PCB) appears as shown in the illustration below. It
actually consists of two PCBs joined by three small bridges (webs). The left portion is for the keyboard
and the right portion is for the main controller. The PCBs have two sides, solder side and silkscreen side.

Before placing any components, carefully cut the three small bridges between the controller PCB and
keyboard PCB with a fine saw such as a modeler’s saw. Do not attempt to break the two boards apart
without cutting because the likelihood is very high the boards will be damaged.

After separating the two PCBs, the sharp edges can be removed and dressed with some fine sandpaper
or a file. It may be helpful to sandwich the PCB between two pieces of soft wood and clamp in a vise
while cutting; do not clamp the PCB directly in the vise jaws.
