IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed. Please read
the following instructions carefully and save for future reference:

1.

Do not touch hot surfaces; always use handles.

2.

To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plug or appliance in water or
any liquid.

3.

Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used near, or by children.

4.

Unplug the unit from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow the toaster
to cool sufficiently before cleaning and storing.

5.

Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance has
malfunctioned, is dropped or is damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the
nearest service agent or center for examination and/or repair.

6.

This appliance is not meant for outdoor use.

7.

Do not let the cord hang over edges of a table or counter or to touch hot surfaces.

8.

Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heater oven.

9.

To disconnect, remove plug from wall outlet by grasping the body of the plug. Do not
pull on the cord.

10.

Do not use this appliance for anything other than its intended use.

11.

The bread lift carriage must always be elevated before you plug in or remove from the
wall socket.

12.

The bread may burn, therefore do not use the toaster near or below combustible material, such
as curtains.

13.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless
they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.

14.

Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

3.

USING YOUR SALTON ELITE TOASTER

1.

Before using your appliance for the first time, wipe the surface of the toaster with a soft
damp cloth. Use the toaster without bread for the first time. Plug in the toaster, press
down the bread carriage and set the browning control to the maximum position. This
will ensure that you burn any dust that may have fallen into the toaster during
production or transport.

You may notice a slight smell or even a little smoke during this initial use.

2.

To begin toasting, plug in the toaster and choose the desired browning setting. Place the
bread in the slots and press down the bread carriage handle until it clicks into place.
The heating element is now activated and the bread automatically centered by the
centering guides to ensure even browning.

3.

The toasted bread will pop up automatically when the selected time has elapsed. The
browning selection used will depend on personal taste and preference.
