DANGER! Risk of fatal injury!
The switchgear is not protected against explosions and
may not be operated in the explosive area.
Always install the switchgear outside the explosive
area.
The intended use includes complying with these instructions.
Any other use is considered outside the intended use.

6. DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTION
6.1 Product description (Fig. 1)
The EC-Drain LS2 is an electronic switchgear with an integrated
microcontroller.
It controls two pumps depending on the switching status of the
connected float switch. When the high water level is reached,
optical and acoustic signals are output and there is a forced
pump switch-on. The collective fault signal and high water
alarm are active.
An optional rechargeable battery (accessory) allows for a
mains-independent alarm signal, which signalises the missing
mains voltage by means of a continuous acoustic signal.
Pump faults are registered and evaluated.
The display of the operating states is signalised by LEDs on the
front side. Operation is done via buttons on the right side on the
housing.
The switchgear is delivered with a main switch and, for the
alternating current version (single-phase 230 V), with an inte-
grated operating capacitor.
6.2 Function and operation
After connecting the switchgear to the supply voltage, as well
as after every mains interruption, the switchgear returns to that
operating mode which was set before the voltage interruption.
First, all LEDs are actuated for about 2 s for testing purposes.
Afterwards, the switchgear is ready for operation.

Pressing the manual mode button, switches pump 1
or 2 on independently of the float switch signal, along
with all safety functions, such as the electronic motor
protection and the winding protection monitor of the
thermal winding contact.
The green LED "Pump 1 operation" (item. 6) or "Pump
2 operation" (item 10) is lit as long as the button is
pressed. This function is intended for commissioning or
testing purposes.
Manual mode only runs as long as the button is
pressed.
If the Stop button is pressed, automatic mode is
switched off for both pumps and the green LED (item
5, item 9) flashes continuously.
The pump is not switched on automatically.
Once the high water level is reached, optical and
acoustic alarm signals are given and the collective
fault signal contact and the high water alarm is
active.
If the automatic mode button is pressed, the auto-
matic mode of both pumps is switched on depen-
ding on the setting of DIP switch 6 and 7 (Fig. 2, item.
3) and the green LEDs (item 5, item 9) are perma-
nently lit.
If a pump was deactivated via the DIP switches, the
corresponding LED remains switched off (see Section
6.2.4).
In automatic mode, the pumps are controlled
depending on the float switch signal. When the first
switch-on level has been reached, the float switch
contact is closed and the pump is switched on. When
the second switch-on level is reached, the peak load
pump is cut-in.
The green LED (item 6, item 10) lights up while the
pump is in operation.
If the switch-off point is reached, the float switch con-
tact opens, the peak load pump switches off and fol-
low-up time set via the potentiometer (Fig. 2, item 2)
takes effect.
The green LED (item 6, item 10) flashes until the set
time has elapsed. After the time has elapsed, the
base-load pump switches off.
