6.3 Function of the product
The Cleanskid efficiently removes sludge from
heating systems by means of natural physical
phenomena.
Water from the system enters the separator
through the lower pipe. The constant thrust of
the circulator drives the water slowly first down,
then up in the separator. Particles in suspension
fall by their own weight into the bottom of the
settling chamber. Under the action of polar mag-
netic field, the ferromagnetic particles accumu-
late on the inside wall of the separator.
The separator has a “pressure relieving” effect in
the fluid flow, and promotes degassing through
the automatic air vent.
Emptying of the system is made by hand: cir-
culator stop, opening and closing of the valves,
and moving of the bar magnets (to eliminate
the magnetic field). When system is drained, the
internal housing of the separator is cleaned auto-
matically by a countercurrent flow.
7. Installation and electrical connection
So as not to perturb the operation of the heat-
ing or air-conditioning network, it is essential
to maintain a constant pressure in the network.
Provide an automatic water supply because of the
loss of water due to sludge disposal.
To maintain pressure and ensure water feed you
can install an Expanson Comfort.
7.1 Installation
Install the Cleanskid in a room that provides an
easy access, well ventilated, frost-proof and pro-
tected against rain.
Be sure that the dimension of the technical room
door is adequate to enter the system.
Adequate space must be provided for mainte-
nance work. The installation should be freely
accessible from at least two sides.
The installation surface must be level and hori-
zontal.
Cleanskid 0.5-1-2
Attached to wall by anchor bolts (not supplied).
Cleanskid 3-4-5
Attached to floor by anchor bolts (not supplied).
7.2 Assembly
All parts of the module are joined by threaded
connections. Use the provided sealing glue to
seal the couplings (follow the directions for its
use).
WARNING! Do not forget the gaskets for the cir-
culator and the hoses.
• Check the flow direction of the balancing valve
(pos. 9) and the circulator (pos. 2).
NOTE: The inlet/outlet taps (models 0.5-1-2)
or the outlet taps (models 3-4-5) pass through
the separator, the connections may be made on
either the left or the right side. Use the plugs
provided to blank the unused ports.
7.3 Hydraulic connection
Whatever the configuration of the installation
(new or old), the module must be by-pass con-
nected on the network return (Fig. 2). The diam-
eters of the pipes to which the Cleanskid is
connected must be at least as large as those of
the module itself. The suction nozzle must be on
the bottom part of the main pipe, the discharge
nozzle on the upper part (Fig. 2). The distance
between the two nozzles must be at least equal
to the height of the separator, to avoid turbulence
in the pipes.
Connect the suction, discharge, and sludge dis-
posal using the diameters stated in the table
above. These pipes must be installed free from
stresses.
To isolate the module and allow adjustments and
servicing, interpose valves on the suction and
discharge lines.
The sludge evacuation pipe must have a full dis-
connection to outfall at atmospheric pressure.
The diameter of this pipe must be at least as large
as that of the flush valve (pos. 6).
7.4 Electrical connection
WARNING ! Electrical shock hazard !
Electrical connections and checks must be per-
formed by an authorized electrician and accord-
ing to the standards into force.
To make the electrical connection, the corre-
sponding installation and operating instructions
and attached electrical circuit diagrams must be
observed. General points to be considered are
listed below:
• The type of current and voltage of the mains con-
nection must comply with the details on the type
plate and the circuit diagram of the control box.
• The electrical connecting cable must be ade-
quately dimensioned according to the total
power of the Cleanskid (see type plate).
• Connect the control box and the circulator with
the supplied cable (pos. 16), and refer to the
installation instructions of the circulator.
• As a protection measure, the Cleanskid must be
earthed according to the rules (i.e according to
the local regulations and circumstances).
