Virtual Serial Port over Ethernet
Third party software, such as USR-VCOM, can create a virtual COM port on your computer and
connect it to the 20-62 over the Ethernet. This allows you to access the 20-62 via the Ethernet in
the same way you would access a physical RS-232 port or USB serial port.
This virtual COM port can be used to send paging messages and serial commands but it cannot
be used with Sacoto. Socoto can connect to the 20-62 via Ethernet directly, without the use of a
virtual COM port.
Important: USR-VCOM is proprietary software for exclusive use with USR Ethernet modules, such
as the USR-TCP232-S2 used in the Salcom 20-62. USR-VCOM may not be used for any other
purpose.
Downloading and Installing USR-VCOM
USR-VCOM may be downloaded from the USR IOT website:
https://www.usriot.com/support/downloads/usr-vcom-virtual-serial-software.html
To install USR-VCOM you will need to run the installation package with administrator privileges. In
some cases accessing the Ethernet will require access to be granted through a firewall.
Configuring USR-VCOM
Ensure that “Synchronize baud rate” is NOT ticked under the “options” menu.
If it’s ticked then you can only connect at 115200 baud.
