Starting and Driving
Automated Mechanical Transmission

Using the Automated Mechanical
Transmission
The following information is important - particularly for
drivers who are unused to driving cars with automated
mechanical transmission (AMT):
• The selecting and shifting gear of the transmission is
a hydraulic mechanism, therefore a creak sound for
accumulator pressurization may be produced when
the driver side door opens, and this is a normal
phenomenon.
• Before starting the engine, ensure gear selector lever
is in N position, both foot brake and handbrake are
applied.
• After starting the engine, keep both brakes applied
before and whilst moving the gear selector lever to the
required drive position.
• On a horizontal surface, release the handbrake, but
keep the foot brake applied until you are ready to
move. Shift to 1st gear or R gear - an 'automatic' will
tend to creep forward or backward without throttle
application, as soon as the foot brake is released.

The automated mechanical transmission is a 5-speed
transmission, and it has two gear-shifting modes: automatic
mode and manual mode.
Under automatic mode, it has the following driving modes:
• Normal, economic and winter ( the vehicle is equipped
with a 1.3L engine
*
)
• Normal, sport and winter ( the vehicle is equipped with
a 1.5L engine
*
)
