Warning
: Before attempting to adjust the up limit or perform any work beneath the platform apply
maintenance chock.
4.9
Safety Bar
The lift table may be fitted with a safety bar. The safety bar will halt the down travel whenever it is
lifted. The safety bar does not affect the up travel. The safety bar adjustment has been set in the
factory but should be checked in the event that its setting has been disturbed in transit.
Lift the safety bar whilst lowering the lift table. The down motion should be halted when the bar is
lifted 5-10mm from its rest position. Perform the test on both sides of the platform to check the
function of both switches.
If the safety bar does not perform as above, the setting can be adjusted by raising or lowering its
rest position by turning the four Nyloc nuts supporting the corners of the safety bar. Be sure to adjust
the four Nyloc nuts by equal amounts.
If the lift table is SmartLift equipped, the safety bar indicator LED will show if the safety bar is
switching. Operating the safety bar will activate the recoil function as described in Section 3.5.1.
Warning
:
Before attempting to adjust the safety bar or perform any work beneath the platform,
apply maintenance chock.
4.10
Flaps
The lift table may be fitted with hinged safety flaps in lieu of a safety bar. The flaps perform the same
function as a safety bar. When any flap is raised, the down motion is halted. Individually lift each
flap whilst lowering the lift table. The down motion should be halted when the flap is approximately
horizontal. If not, the flap can be adjusted by adjusting the switch striker bolt located on the underside
of each flap.
When adjusting the switch striker bolt, make sure that when the flap is in its rest position, the striker
bolt has not over-travelled the switch. There should be a minimum of 2mm of switch plunger travel
remaining. If not, the switch may be damaged.
If the lift table is SmartLift equipped, the safety bar indicator LED will show if the safety flaps are
switching. For lift tables fitted with flaps, the recoil function should be disabled as described in
Section 3.5.1.
4.11
Flow Controller
An adjustable flow controller is located at the base of the cylinders. It is used to adjust the speed of
the down travel. It has no effect on the speed of the up travel. Turning the knurled knob on the flow
controller clockwise will decrease the down speed. Turning the knob anti-clockwise will increase the
down speed.
Warning
: Before attempting to adjust the flow controller or perform any work
beneath
the
platform, be sure to apply maintenance chock. Do not adjust the flow controller whilst
lowering the lift table.
At any setting of the flow controller, the down speed will be faster when the lift table is loaded. It is
therefore recommended to start with a slow setting (not more than two full turns from fully closed)
when operating the lift table under load for the first time.
Fully closing the flow controller will stop the down travel, even when the "DOWN" control is pressed.
