Bearing Tower Service
Every Sioux Automation 3500 series mixer is equipped with a grease-lubricated top bearing tower incorporated into the
planetary gearbox assembly. The bearing tower requires grease 1 pump every 8 hours or 50 loads of operation. For con-
venience, the bearing tower is greased externally through a fitting located on the left hand side of the machine, as shown
in the illustration that follows.
Important:
When greasing, be sure to
inspect the condition of the
grease line connected from
the grease fitting to the
bearing tower. Ensure that
the bearing tower is taking
grease. If the grease line has
become split, cracked, and/or
disconnected, repair and/or
replace immediately.
OIL LuBRICATION
Refer to the ‘Fluids and Lubricants’ section for the recommended oil to use in the drive components on your 3500 series
mixer. Use the ‘Maintenance and Service Record’ provided to keep a record of all scheduled servicing.
3500 series mixer models 3537, 3541, 3546 and 3555 are equipped with a single planetary gearbox. Also, depending on
the model, the machine may be equipped with a 2-speed transmission. Check each unit’s oil level daily. Check for oil
leaks every 8 hours or whenever the oil level drops rapidly. Inspect the oil condition for cloudiness and/or impurities. The
first oil change should be made after approximately 50-100 working hours, and at least annually thereafter.
To maintain the gearbox, follow this procedure:
1.
Clear the area of bystanders, especially small children.
2.
Place all controls in neutral, stop the engine, set park brake, relieve hydraulic pressure, remove ignition key, and
wait for all moving parts to stop before servicing, adjusting, repairing, or unplugging.
3.
Checking Oil Level:
a.
Planetary Gearbox:
Each gearbox is equipped with a special oil reservoir and breather mounted on the drum to eliminate maintenance on
the gearbox itself. The oil level must be checked daily when the gearbox is cold and machine is level. Add oil through the
vented cap as required to maintain the oil level between the lines as identified on the reservoir.
