PREPARING ESPRESSO COFFEE
NOTE: Always fill the water tank before the espresso maker is turned on and make sure
the steam control is fully closed and all switches are in the outermost position.
It is preferable to preheat the coffee cup(s) before brewing.
With the espresso maker preheated and filter holder installed, place 1 or 2 cups under
the filter holder and press the pump START/STOP switch to
START
. Hot water flows
from the filter holder spouts into the cup.
Press the pump START/STOP switch to
STOP
when sufficient water to preheat the
cup(s) has been dispensed.
Discard the preheating water and place the preheated cup(s) onto the warming tray to
retain warmth until cups are needed.
BREWING ESPRESSO COFFEE
NOTE: The filter basket MUST be fitted in the filter holder.
Fit the filter basket aligning the tip on the outside of the basket to the handle of the filter
holder and drop into place. Rotate the filter basket to lock in.
Use the measuring spoon/tamper to fill the filter basket with desired amount of ground
coffee and press down (see
NOTES
below) using the tamper.
Fit the filter holder into the espresso maker, making sure it is properly tightened.
Place the preheated cup(s) under the filter holder spouts.
Confirm the
(Ready) lamp is illuminated and press the START/STOP switch to
START
.
The pump will start and brewed coffee will pour from the filter holder spouts.
Press the START/STOP switch to
STOP
once the desired amount of coffee has been drawn.
NOTES:
Tamping the coffee affects the strength of the espresso. If you press too hard, the coffee
comes out slowly and the crema is dark in colour. If the coffee is not pressed enough, it will
come out too quickly and the crema will be light in colour.
Running the pump after the drawn coffee has changed to a light coffee can make the
coffee bitter.
To make a large cup of espresso coffee prefill the cup with HOT water and draw coffee on top.
REMOVING AND EMPTYING THE FILTER HOLDER
To remove after brewing, turn the filter holder from right to left.
Once the filter holder has been removed from the machine, flip the handle clip over and
hold it in place against the filter basket to prevent the filter basket from falling out when
discarding the used coffee grounds.
To remove the used coffee grounds, grip the filter holder handle and hold the handle clip
firmly against the filter basket. Invert the filter holder and tap it firmly against the edge of
a disposal/kitchen bin.
Clean the filter basket and holder for future use.
NOTE: During brewing, the filter holder contains boiling water under pressure. To prevent
possible scalding from hot water and steam, never attempt to remove the filter holder from
the espresso maker during the brewing process, whilst the pump is running.
