76 Press the self clean button, keep it pressed, and gently move the iron to and fro, over
the basin or bowl.
77 Water and steam will wash scale through the soleplate, and into the basin/bowl.
78 When the reservoir is empty, release the self clean button.
79 Unplug the iron, and sit it on its heel to cool.
80 When it’s cold, wipe off any moisture, wipe the soleplate clean, then wind the cable
round the heel.
81 Store the iron on its heel, to avoid corrosion and damage to the soleplate.
cleaning
82 Unplug the iron when not in use, before moving and before cleaning. Let it cool
down fully before cleaning and storing away.
83 Wipe outer surfaces with a damp cloth. If necessary, use a little washing-up liquid.
84 Remove spots from the soleplate with a little vinegar.
85 Take care not to scratch the soleplate.
86 Don’t put the iron in water or any other liquid.
87 Don’t use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents or solvents.
88 Don’t use a descaling solution, you’ll damage the iron.
auto shut-off
89 If the iron is motionless, the element will switch itself off after about 30 seconds with
the soleplate down or on its side, or about 8 minutes if it’s upright.
90 The iron will beep, then a flashing symbol

will show in the bottom centre of the
display.
91 To switch on again, lift it up, tilt it forward, then sit it upright to return to its
operating temperature (30-60 seconds, depending on the setting).
92 No settings are lost during auto shut-off.
