8 Complicated? – not really, it’s just telling you what’s going on:
ACRYL this is the type of fabric (acrylic) associated with this temperature, the others
are (in ascending temperature order) NYLON, SILK, POLY (polyester), BLEND
(polyester/cotton), WOOL, COTTO (cotton), JEANS, and LINEN.
flash? The fabric type will flash till the iron reaches the correct temperature, then
it’ll glow steadily.

this flashes to show that you’re steaming

when this flashes, it means the iron hasn’t moved for a bit (30 seconds with
the soleplate down or on its side, 8 minutes upright) so it’s turned itself off
water saving – this stops the steam if the iron is motionless for 5 seconds, to
avoid soaking the fabric, and save water.
self clean – this symbol will flash after about 5 hours worth of steaming, to
let you know that you should use the self cleaning function to remove scale
build-up from the iron
off to turn the iron off, press and hold the
