Power Sources
The AP can be powered either with a power adapter or through Power over Ethernet (PoE).
The AP requires Ruijie power adapters (If needed, you can buy them from Ruijie).
To use a PoE device, make sure it supports the IEEE 802.3af/at PoE standard.
Cooling Solution
The AP adopts fanless design.
Leave sufficient space at the surrounding of the AP when place the AP to permit airflow for proper ventilation.
Antenna Radiation Direction
RG-AP520(DA) is equipped with a directional antenna board. The antenna gain can be up to 9 dBi. The horizontal
beamwidth is in the range of 60°-70°, and the vertical beamwidth 40°-50°. The antenna radiation is mainly directed right
ahead the AP. Therefore, the AP is especially suitable for long-distance coverage and coverage of specified areas.
The gain mainly exists right ahead of RG-AP520(DA) and the signals ahead are stronger. It is recommended that the front
side of RG-AP520(DA) face towards to-be-covered areas in actual applications.
Ceiling-mounted application: The forward coverage is preferred in the ceiling-mounted application. The AP must be
installed with the front side towards users to avoid backward coverage.
Wall-mounted application: The forward coverage is preferred in the wall-mounted application. The AP must be
installed with the front side towards the users to avoid backward coverage.
Select a proper installation manner to ensure a large coverage area.
In an indoor environment, the coverage area of the ceiling-mounted installation is larger than that of the
wall-mounted installation. Therefore, the ceiling-mounted installation is preferred.
Figure 1-1 shows the ceiling-mounted application and wall-mounted application of RG-AP520(DA) in the 2.4 GHz
operating mode.
