RSF Woodburning Fireplaces
5. Grab the faceplate firmly and lift it off the fireplace. Four notches in the fireplace facing hold the Keystone
faceplate in place. It must be lifted and then pulled forward.
DOOR SEAL
To check for a proper door seal, insert a thin sheet of paper between the door and the front of the fireplace and
latch the door. Pull gently but firmly on the sheet of paper. If the paper either tears or is hard to retrieve, the
adjustment is correct. Repeat this procedure along all sides of the door.
The most important factor for controlling the burning rate of the OPEL+ KEYSTONE is a good seal on the door
gaskets. If the door gaskets are worn or damaged to the point where the seal is not adequate as described above,
then remove and replace the gasket(s). Replacement kits are available from your RSF dealer.
The OPEL+ KEYSTONE Door cannot be adjusted to tighten the door seal. The gaskets must be replaced when
necessary to resolve the issue.
NOTE:
An improper door seal can have a significant effect on the performance and durability of the fireplace. An
air leak can result in reduced efficiency, over firing, excessive wood consumption and premature catalyst and
fireplace failure.
DOOR ADJUSTMENT
For aesthetic reasons or to ensure the door handle properly aligns with the notch in the fireplace facing, the door
hinges can be adjusted on the left side of the door.
The door can be adjusted left-right or slightly rotated against the front of the fireplace as follows (see Figure 5):
1. Open the door completely.
2. Using a 5/32" hex key (allen key), slightly loosen the screws holding the door hinge pins against the face of the
fireplace. The hinge pins can be shifted left or right.
3. Verify the alignment of the door with the firebox opening and the latch opening.
4. Retighten the bolts once alignment is complete
