Roland Boutique JU-06 FAQ

Q.

Can I input a tie in the step sequencer of the Boutique series units?

By simultaneously pressing the first step and the last step whose notes you want to connect, you can set the

intervening notes to a tie.
To cancel this setting, temporarily turn off the applicable steps and then turn them on again.

Q.

Can knob and slider movements be recorded in the step sequencer of the
Boutique series units?

These movements cannot be recorded. Only note data can be recorded.

Q.

Is the step sequencer of the Boutique series units polyphonic?

The step sequencer is monophonic.

Q.

Is the chain mode of the Boutique series units valid even if a different model of
unit is connected via a MIDI cable?

If you turn chain mode on for units of the same model and connect them with a MIDI cable, parameters are

synchronized and the number of voices is expanded. (Four voices for one unit, eight voices for two units, …)
If you connect units of different models (JP/JU/JX), only the number of voices is expanded.

Q.

Can I connect Boutique series models via MIDI and make them play in
synchronization?

Yes.
If you want to connect the units via MIDI and synchronize the step sequencer, specify different MIDI channels so that

the MIDI channels of each unit do not conflict.

*  Set the MIDI clock source to AUTO.

Q.

Can I layer the sound of multiple Boutique series units?

By connecting the units with a MIDI cable you can make multiple units sound together (as a layer).
You can layer the sound of multiple devices by playing them simultaneously from a master K-25M or an external MIDI

keyboard.

NOTE

*  If you’re layering sounds, turn the chain mode setting off.
*  Set each unit to the same MIDI channel.

Q.

Can the Boutique units be powered via USB?

They support being supplied with power from a computer’s USB ports.
Roland does not guarantee operation with a USB power adaptor.

Q.

What is the maximum number of Boutique series units that can be connected in
chain mode?
