8.2 Powering Your Roku Stick
It is possible to power your Roku Stick by connecting it to a USB port
on your TV. However, most TVs are not Roku ready which means that
whenever you start your Roku, you will cause the Roku to boot up. If you
plan to use your Roku stick often, we recommend that you use the wall
socket instead. However, if your Roku will be plugged into a TV that you
won’t use very often, you’ll be able to save some electricity like that, since
Roku won’t be powered when the TV itself is be turned off.
8.3 Roku Media and Windows Media Player
If you are a Windows user and, specifically, if you use Windows Media
Player, you can stream content directly to the Roku Media Player. In
Windows Media Player find the submenu “Stream” and choose
“Automatically allow devices to play my media”. This will work for most of
the videos, but might not work properly if the quality of the video is too
high (if the Bit rate is too high).
