Replacing a Hot Swappable Hard Drive
Requirements:

Follow the safety guidelines listed in chapter “Safety Instructions”
on page 90 and chapter “Safety” on page 9.

If installed, remove the front plate as descibed in chapter “Remo-
ving the Front Plate” on page 92.
Perform the following steps:
1.
Press the release button to open the hard drive carrier
release handle.
2.
Slide the hard drive out of the hard drive slot.

If you are not replacing the hard drive immediately, insert a
hard drive blank in the empty hard drive slot.
Cooling Problems
To maintain proper system cooling, all empty hard
drive slots must have hard drive blanks installed.
Install a hard drive blank if necessary.
Data Loss
Using not tested hard drives can result in loss of
data.
Use only hard drives that have been tested
and approved for use with the hard drive back-
plane.
