4.  INSTALLING THE ROTOR TARGET IN AN X-RAY TUBE

4.1  Unpacking

(1)  Check the packing for breakage and other abnormality.

(2)  After unpacking, check all supplied items with a LIST OF SUPPLIED ITEMS (section 3).

(3)  Check for no flaw on the surface of the Rotor Target.    Stripes on the surface of the Rotor Target

are the traces of electronic beams and do not constitute any problem.

4.2    Mounting the Rotor Target in an X-ray Tube

(1)  Carry the Rotor Target by securely holding the body of it.

Never carry the Rotor Target by holding its cable or target drum.    In addition, do not give any
shock to the target drum.

(2)  Wipe the part of the Rotor Target body to be inserted into the X-ray tube with a cloth or paper

moistened with hexane or like solvent.    Use care so that the solvent does not flow into the body.
Do not directly touch the said part by your hand.

(3)  Wipe the O-ring to be attached to the flange of the Rotor Target with a clean cloth or paper.

Also, thoroughly wipe off any dirt from the O-ring groove of the body and the part of the X-ray
tube at which the O-ring is engaged.

(4)  Firmly hold the body, and slowly insert into position while aligning it with the X-ray tube

mounting port.    Use extreme care so that the circumferential surface of the body does not bump
against anything.

(5)  Make sure that the flange on the Rotor Target body is in proper contact with the X-ray tube, and

then tentatively tighten the four mounting screws by degrees and in turn.

(6)  Properly connect the two connectors of the body.

(7)  If a plug is attached to the cooling-water hose fitting, pull it out pushing the ring on the fitting.

(8)  Properly connect the cooling-water hose to the body, aligning the label on the hose with the label

on the body (by strongly pushing the tip of the hose into the fitting).

(9)  Insert the leakage sensor to the fitting on a side of the body.

(10)  Turn ON the circuit breaker and the main power.    After it starts emitting exhaust, firmly tighten

the four mounting screws by degrees and in turn.

Note:    Before attaching or removing the Rotor Target, be sure to turn OFF the X-ray

generator power, wait for at least 30 minutes after it stops to emit exhaust and
until the TMP revolutions fully drop to a speed safe to handle.
