Print Processes 4 – Development

Supply roller applies toner to the development roller.

Metering blade controls the thickness of the layer of toner on the
development roller.

Toner is attracted to the latent image areas, thereby developing the
image.

Bias: 450 V to 300 V

(Varies depending on use)

Toner is non-magnetic. It gets a triboelectric positive charge from the rotation of
the supply roller and development roller.

The electrostatic potential between the development roller and the OPC drum
causes the toner to be attracted to the latent image areas on the drum surface.
