Remove anode cap

anode cylinder

Remove anode and reseal with
thread tape

Replace water heater
Remove the extension fitting
and reseal with thread tape
Check for hot spots on the jacket. If any
are detected conduct a pressure test.
Replace heater if pressure will not hold

inlet extension
fitting?

Is the
leak from the
inlet fitting
weld?

element barrel

Remove element and replace
gasket
