Step 1 Put belt around your
waist and buckle on your
left side. Adjust free
end of belt until snug.
Step 2 Pull yellow “ JERK” tab
down to inflate.
Step 3 Pull inflated PFD over head
with oral tube facing away from
body. Tighten center
adjustment strap snugly to
ensure PFD remains secure on
your head when jumping into
the water.
Step 4 Tie neck straps in a
knot as tight as possible.

6.2 Putting on Your PFD (Donning)
Put the PFD is worn about your waist like a belt. Refer to Figure 3. Buckle it at
the left side of the pouch and and tighten the waist strap. The yellow “JERK”
pull tab for the inflation mechanism protrudes from an opening on the right side
of the storage pouch. Check its location by hand and know where it is.
