CobraNet
The drawing below shows the signal paths for a RHAON system using CobraNet digital audio distribution.
Except for the analog audio input line to the CobraNet Converter, all audio signal runs are standard CAT5e cables. The network is a stan-
dard Ethernet star topology. CobraNet does not permit looping or “daisy chaining” from amplifier to amplifier. The maximum CAT5e cable
length between devices is 100 Meters (approximately 325 feet).
Notes
1. Satisfactory Ethernet switches of many sizes (output ports) are widely available from many sources. Managed switches are recom-
mended over unmanaged switches; 100 BaseT minimum, Gigabit (1000 BaseT) recommended.
2. The number of loudspeakers is determined by the number of output ports provided by the switches. The computer(s) can be connect-
ed to any Port on the Ethernet network.
3. Systems with CobraNet digital audio distribution require either a suitable Analog to CobraNet converter or a mixing console with a
CobraNet output. Suitable analog to CobraNet converters are available from a number of sources, such as Bi-Amp, Peavey and oth-
ers.
4. The RHAON network can easily be made redundant by connecting a duplicate of this network to the Secondary Ethernet Inputs on
each loudspeaker. Additional switches, analog-to-CobraNet converters, etc. would be required.
