Operating instructions
Solar spotlight with PIR sensor
Item no. 807611
Intended use
The product is designed for use as a decorative light source and/or to accent garden paths.
The solar cell charges the three rechargeable NiMH batteries with sufficient sunlight.
A PIR motion sensor activates the LED spotlights in the dark when it detects temperature changes
within the detection range.
The solar module with integrated solar cell can either be screw mounted, set up using a ground
spike or fastened to a pole or a beam with a special pole clamp.
Choose a site for set-up with as little shade as possible so the rechargeable battery can charge
sufficiently.
It is imperative that you follow the safety instructions and all other information contained in this
user manual.

ting hazardous situations.
Notes on rechargeable batteries
• Keep rechargeable batteries out of the reach of children. Do not leave rechargeable batteries
lying about. Children or pets may swallow batteries left lying about, posing a risk of fatal injury!
If a battery has been swallowed, seek medical advice immediately.
• Never disassemble, short-circuit or throw rechargeable batteries into fire, this poses a risk of
explosion.
• Heed correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting/replacing rechargeable batteries.
• Expired or used rechargeable batteries can leak chemical liquids that cause damage to the
device. Leaking or damaged rechargeable batteries may cause chemical burns if they come into
contact with your skin, wear suitable protective hand wear in such a case.
• Use only rechargeable batteries of the right size and recommended type
• Only ever insert rechargeable batteries into the solar module. Never use non-rechargeable bat
-
teries. Otherwise there is a risk of fire and explosion!
Only use NiMH rechargeable batteries, type AA/Mignon.
Functioning of the PIR motion sensor
The PIR motion sensor reacts to temperature changes in the detection range, e.g. when a person
enters the range whose temperature is different than that of the background (like a wall).
The range for detecting temperature changes within the detection range depends on the follo-
wing:
• The difference in temperature between the moving object and the background (surroundings)
• The size of the moving object
• The distance of the object to the motion sensor
• Ambient temperature
Detecting temperature changes through glass is not possible.
Installation
a) Solar module
Choose a sport for set-up with as much sunlight as possible. The more sunlight that
shines on the solar cell in the solar module, the quicker and fuller the rechargeable
battery will charge and the longer the light ON time in the dark will be.
The solar module should face south and ideally should be installed so that the midday
sun shines down on the solar cell in the solar module vertically.
If you set up the product beneath trees or bushes where only a small amount of sunlight
can reach the solar cell, the rechargeable batteries will not charge sufficiently and the
three LED spotlights will light up at night only very briefly if at all when activated by the
PIR motion sensor.
During the winter months or during extended periods of adverse weather, the rechar
-
geable battery will also not charge sufficiently.
Before setting up the solar module, make sure the LED spotlight and PIR motion sensor
cables reach the solar module
Wall installation
Fasten the solar module mounting foot to a stable surface using 2 screws and screw anchors if
necessary. When drilling any holes or fastening the screws, make sure not to damage and cables
or wiring.
Depending on the surface, use suitable screws and screw anchors.
Then fasten the solar module to the mounting foot.
Installation using the pole clamp
First stick the L-shaped metal bracket through the
solar module mounting foot (heed proper orientation)
and pivot it outwards 90°. See illustration on right.
Fit the plastic plate onto the metal bracket, then
screw on the wing nut.
To prevent injuries, the plastic cap finally should be
placed on the thread.
The clamp can be fastened to e.g. a pole or a beam,
etc. Move the plastic plate and tighten the wing nut.
Then fasten the solar module to the mounting foot.
Set-up using the ground spike
Screw the ground spike to the solar module and stick the ground spike with the solar module into
the ground e.g. in a flower a bed.
Do not use any tools to insert the ground spike (e.g. a hammer). Exerting force can
cause damage to the product and results in loss of warranty!
b) LED spotlights
The three LED spotlights can be screw mounted or set up in a garden using the ground spike. To
use the ground spike, you must first unscrew the round base plate from the LED spotlights; then
screw the ground spike to the LED spotlight.
Do not use any tools to insert the ground spike (e.g. a hammer). Exerting force can
cause damage to the product and results in loss of warranty!
Lay the cables between the LED spotlight and the solar module so that it cannot be tripped over.
Place the cable somewhere where they will not be driven over or stepped on. Also shield the
cables from sharp corners.
c) PIR motion sensor
The PIR motion sensor can either be screwed to the LED spotlights or set up using a ground
spike.
A plastic tube is included for elevated installation to increase the PIR motion sensor‘s
detection range for temperature changes.
