PIR sensor function
The integrated PIR sensor responds to temperature changes within the detection
range, e.g. if a person (or an animal or a car) enters the detection range with a differ-
ent temperature from the rest of the detection range.
The range for detecting motion is determined by several factors:
• The PIR sensor’s mounting height
• The temperature difference between the moving object and the background (ambi-
ent)
• The size of the object
• The distance of the object from the PIR sensor
• The direction and speed of movement
• Ambient temperature
A sidewise movement (and not towards the PIR sensor) of an object through the de-
tection range is an optimal case for detection of the temperature variation.
The PIR sensor can be tilted up/down in order to adjust the detection range.
Mounting the LED spotlight
Choose the mounting location away from heat sources, e.g. air discharge
openings, other l light sources etc.
Do not aim the PIR sensor at the street, otherwise each passing vehicle will
trigger the PIR sensor with its heat, therefore turning the LED spotlight on
too frequently.
The brightness sensor on the bottom of the LED spotlight (between the two
dials) must be free. If the LED spotlight is mounted in a dark location, both
lights of the LED spotlight may be activated even in daylight!
The ideal mounting height is between approx. 2.2 to 2.5 m.
• Loosen the holding plate at the back of the LED spotlight; to do this, slide the holding
plate downwards.
• The holding plate can be mounted to the wall with two suitable screws and, if nec-
essary, wall plugs, depending on the type of wall. When doing this, observe the
orientation of the holding plate on the wall; the holding plate must be mounted so
that the small hook (used in the fixation of the cable) points downwards towards the
floor.
Avoid damaging cables or wires when tightening the screws or drilling
holes!
Alternatively, you can mount the holding plate to a pipe or a pole using cable bind-
ers.
• Slide the LED spotlight onto the holding plate, starting from the top so that it clicks in
place.
Mounting the solar module
Choose a mounting site that is exposed to sunlight for as long as possible
during the day. The more sunlight falls onto the solar module, the more com-
plete the battery charge of the LED spotlight will be. It helps to ensure opera-
tion in case of longer adverse weather periods.
The solar module should be oriented southwards and ideally mounted in a
position enabling sun beams to fall perpendicularly to the solar module at
noon.
Fasten the installation pad of the solar module onto a steady surface with three suit-
able screws and wall plugs, if needed.
Avoid damaging cables or wires when tightening the screws or drilling
holes!
Getting started
If the solar cell is covered by a protective foil for transport, please remove it.
• Connect the plug at the end of the solar module’s cable to the corresponding round
socket on the cable at the bottom of the of the LED spotlight.
If necessary, the cable can be hung over the little hook at the bottom of the holding
plate.
• When laying out the cable between the solar module and the LED spotlight, make
sure that it is protected from sharp edges. Never bend the cable. Secure the cable,
e.g. with cable binders.
The LED spotlight is delivered with an empty rechargeable battery. Before
initial setting into operation, ideally the rechargeable battery should be
charged for two days in full sunlight. The LED spotlight should be switched
off during this time.
An LED next to the round socket is lit in red during charging. When the re-
chargeable battery is fully charged, the LED will be lit up in green.

Operating Instructions
Solar LED spotlight, black
Item no. 1170824
Intended Use
The product is intended to provide outdoor lighting independent of the mains supply.
Optimal positioning is possible due to the separation of the LED spotlight and the solar
module and the use of a long connection cable.
If the brightness level is adequate, the Li-ion rechargeable battery integrated in the
LED spotlight is recharged by the solar module. The LED spotlight is powered by the
battery in twilight conditions or at night.
A distinctive feature is a PIR sensor built into the LED spotlight. It responds to tempera-
ture changes within the detection range (e.g. if a person enters the detection range)
and activates the LED spotlight for a configurable period of time.
Always observe the safety instructions included in these operating instructions.
Please read the operating instructions carefully and keep them.
Any use other than that described above could lead to damage to this product and
involves the risk of short circuits, fire, electric shock, etc. No part of the product may
be modified or converted!
