CHANGING A WHEEL
Park the vehicle on firm,
level ground which is not
slippery (e.g. avoid tiled
flooring, etc.) - if necessary,
place a plank under the jack for
support. Switch on the hazard
warning lights.
Apply the handbrake and engage a
gear (first or reverse).
Ask all the passengers to leave the
vehicle and keep away from the
traffic.
Remove
the
hubcap
(see
the
information on hubcaps).
Loosen the nuts using wheelbrace 1,
pulling upwards.
Offer up the jack horizontally, the
jack head must be slid into sheet
metal jacking point 2 provided in
the lower section of the bodywork
closest to the wheel concerned.
Crank up the jack by hand at first to
align the base plate (which should
be inclined further inwards than the
jack head). Place a plank of wood
under the base plate if on soft
ground.
Insert end 4 of the wheelbrace into
jack 3 and turn it a few times to lift
the wheel from the ground.
Remove the bolts.
Remove the wheel.
Position the emergency spare wheel
on the hub and turn it so that the
holes in the wheel and the hub are
aligned.
Tighten the bolts and lower the jack.
With the wheels on the ground,
tighten the bolts as far as possible
and check the tightness as soon
as
possible
(tightening
torque
105 Nm).
If you have a puncture,
replace the wheel as soon
as possible.
A tyre which has been
punctured should always be
inspected
(and
repaired
if
possible) by a specialist.
