7.0 DRIVING SPEED
The effectiveness of aerating is directly related to the soil conditions, the driving speed and
the number of revolutions of the PTO.
The recommended driving speed is 0.5 – 1.5 km/h (0.3 – 0.9 mph) with a number of
revolutions of the PTO of maximum 1,000 rpm for aerating with the Verti-Quake
®
.
The driving speed and the number of revolutions of the PTO should be tuned instinctively
related to the soil conditions and the required level of aerating.

START / STOP PROCEDURE
The start procedure is VERY important. If this procedure is not executed as described below,
serious damage to the Verti-Quake
®
could be the result.
The start procedure is as follows:
1. Observe the Verti-Quake
®
well and look whether all components function properly.
If this is not the case, the problems must be solved
before
using the
Verti-Quake
®
!
2. Connect the Verti-Quake® to the tractor.
3. Drive to the spot where the processing should take place.
4. Let the machine drop until the knives nearly touch the subsoil.
5. Engage the tractor in the correct gear with the four-wheel drive switched on.
6. Switch on the PTO with a low number of motor revolutions.
7. Raise the number of PTO revolutions to approx. 300 rpm.
8. Set the tractor in motion and let the Verti-Quake® sink into the ground with a smooth
movement.
9. Raise the number of PTO revolutions to the maximum value of 1,000 rpm.
10. Increase the speed to maximum 1.5 km/h (0.9 mph).
Figure 14
Adjust the top rod in such a way that the rear part of the skids is parallel
to the subsoil.
This lowers the pressure of the machine on the subsoil and prevents
damage to the subsoil.
(Figure 12)
Work in straight lines; curves do damage to the subsoil.
