7. Assembly & Operation
Basic Assembly
Place the column into the fixing hole of the base, then secure it by tightening
the two blind set screws (Fig. 7.1).
Ensure that the toothed rack of the column is facing towards the front of the
base casting.
The rise and fall handle is supplied pre-assembled. To install it into the rise
and fall axle, unscrew one of the spherical knobs, place the shaft of the
handle through the hole in the rise and fall axle then screw the knob back on
to the end of the shaft (Fig. 7.2).
Installing the Powered Drill
The DS19 is designed to hold powered drills with a standard collar size of 43
mm. Included with the machine is a 38 - 43 mm adaptor for smaller drills.
To install the drill, loosen the locking knob of the drill clamp, place the drill
inside and tighten the drill clamp until the drill is held firmly, taking care not
to overtighten, causing possible damage to the drill (Fig 7.3).
If the drill to be used has a collar size smaller than 43 mm then the collar
adaptor must be used.
Setting the Position of the Headstock
Loosen the locking knob of the fixing block to adjust the height of the
headstock as required and retighten (Fig 7.4). The headstock is now at its
maximum height and can be lowered using the rise and fall handle.
IMPORTANT
Do not over tighten the locking knob as excessive force could
damage or break the fixing block.
