The 2 interpreter consoles only work if a transla-
tion mode (sequential or simultaneous) has been
selected in the software (parameter: INTERPRE-
TATION).
•
A long button
(
MIC / MUTE
) : if pressed once for an instant, the microphone gets open, the red
LED and the light-ring get lit; if pressed again (for an instant), the microphone, the red LED and
the light-ring turn off. After the microphone activation, if this button is pressed (again) and hold, the
microphone will momentary get muted (
MUTE
) and the red LED will be flashing; after releasing,
the microphone and the red LED will turn on again. It is always possible to mute the microphone
by pressing and holding this button, while another quick press (and the immediate release) turns
the console off.
During the simultaneous translation, if a chairman gets the
PRIORITY
, nothing will happen, because
only the translated language (the interpreter’s audio signal) is sent to all consoles.
During the sequential translation, the interpreter has a higher priority than chairmen and delegates,
which are momentary muted (flashing yellow LED) when the interpreter console is on.
•
B short button
(
SPEAK SLOWLY
) : if pressed once
during the simultaneous translation
, it sends
a signal (flashing yellow LED) to all activated consoles (delegates, chairmen and the interpreter
itself as well) as request to
SPEAK SLOWLY
(the “SPEAK SLOWLY” output turns on too; see the
DMU 6100 central unit rear panel, point 34). Another
B
button press cancels the
SPEAK SLOWLY
signal, which can be also disabled by turning the console off (
A
button press).
Note: this button does not work during the sequential translation.
LED CODES
RED: the interpreter microphone is open (and its light-ring is lit).
FLASHING RED: the interpreter console is on, but its microphone is momentary muted (
MUTE
function,
due to the A button press and hold).
FLASHING YELLOW: the interpreter has requested to
SPEAK SLOWLY
during the simultaneous tran-
slation.
Both LED and light-ring are flashing: data transmission from / to the central unit has failed for 30 secon-
ds (or longer). Should this happen, the console would keep on operating until the interpreter turns it off
(and then it would not be possible to turn it on again as long as the technical problem is still present).
The LED and the light-ring suddenly turn off without pressing any button: the other interpreter has
turned its console on
.
During the system reboot, all console red light-rings get lit quickly (in sequence, starting from the
first console to the last of all lines). If 1 or more light-rings do not get lit, there is probably a line pro-
blem after the last console having the light-ring lit properly.
Delegate and interpreter console light-rings stay on for 2 seconds; chairman console light-rings
stay on for 4 seconds. This testing time can be decupled (20 seconds for delegate and interpreter
consoles, 40 seconds for chairman consoles) by pressing and holding for at least 3 seconds the
SET key during the system reboot.
