On a boat with a fiberglass hull, the leading edge of the transducer
should extend 1/8" (3.2 mm) to 1/4" (6 mm) below the bottom
edge of the hull as shown in Figure 1-3 . On an aluminum hull, the
transducer should extend a bit more – 1/4" (6 mm) to 3/8" (9 mm)

If the boat will be trailered, be sure the transducer will not hit any
rollers, bunks or fittings on the trailer.
