Attaching the shielding system (R&S
QAT-Z50)
The optional shielding system (R&S
QAT-Z50) prevents the radar from receiving inter-
fering signals from other radar devices and significantly reduces the amount of unwan-
ted reflections from the environment. It also protects other devices against interference
from the radar signals of the R&S
QAT. To attach the shielding system, you have to
remove the handles and instead screw the shielding system to the R&S
QAT.
The shielding system is delivered as a single piece.
Additional extensions allow you to increase the distance between R&S
QAT and DUT.
Using the R&S
QAT requires a shielded environment to protect other devices against
interference from the radar signals transmitted by the R&S
QAT. Therefore, you must
either attach the shielding system or use the R&S
QAT in an anechoic chamber or a
faraday cage.
Stop operating the R&S
QAT if you receive any reports of interference.
1. Screw off the handles on either side of the R&S
QAT using a Torx screwdriver (4
screws, size T20).
Store the handles in a safe place.

2. Clip the absorber strips that are part of the delivery to the inside of each side of the
shielding system and extensions (if you have any). The absorber point to the inside
of the shielding system. The four clips you need are part of the delivery.
The absorber strips are necessary to keep the unwanted emissions at a minimum.
