Installation and connection
This chapter describes how to install and connect the RCMS2902-2E1GE-BL, including the
following sections:
7.1 Preparing for installation
Before installing the device, you must confirm the model and number of the device and its
components. Verify that the device is not damaged. If the device is got damp, dry it first and
then install it.
Read this guide carefully before installation.
Prepare cables used during installation. Ensure no short circuit and open circuit. Ensure
the voltage is in the normal working range. The rack is well grounded.
Prepare the BERT and optical power meter for detect the quality of cables.
7.1.1 Confirming E1 cable types
The E1 interface on the RCMS2902-2E1GE-BL is a 120 Ω balanced E1 interface. The
22AWG/24AWG twisted-pair cable is available for it.
In on-site connection, confirm the type, definition, and interface impedance of the E1
interface on the device connected to the RCMS2902-2E1GE-BL. See the User Manual of the
remote device if necessary.
7.1.2 Ethernet cables and connection requirements
When you use an Ethernet cable to connect the RCMS2902-2E1GE-BL to other devices, we
recommend that you use a Cat 5 twisted-pair cable. In general, the length of the twisted-pair
cable is not longer than 100 m.
When the Ethernet interface works in self-adaption mode, the auto MDI/MDIX is enabled.
Table 7-1 lists how to connect to other devices in this mode.
