7 Installation and connection

Step 1
Wear the ESD wrist strap.
Step 2
Remove the cable connected to the RCMS2902-2E1GE-BL.
Step 3
Loosen the captive screws and pivot the ejector lever outward to separate the RCMS2902-
2E1GE-BL from the backplane.
Step 4
Remove the RCMS2902-2E1GE-BL from the chassis smoothly.
Step 5
Place the unused card into the ESD box/ESD bag.
Step 6
Install false panels for unused slots.
7.3 Connecting cables
Ethernet interface: use the Ethernet cable with RJ45 connectors to connect the
RCMS2902-2E1GE-BL to related devices.
E1 interface: use the E1 cable with RJ45 connectors to connect the RCMS2902-2E1GE-
BL to related devices.
7.4 Powering on card
The RCMS2902-2E1GE-BL is powered on through the master card of the chassis. The
operating voltage is +5 V DC. After the power supply is connected, the PWR LED on the
RCMS2902-2E1GE-BL is lighten up.
After the power supply is connected, the RCMS2902-2E1GE-BL is being initialized and
performing self-check. The whole process costs less than 70s. It is a normal case that a LOS
alarm is generated on the interface during this process. After 70s, the system works properly.
After the RCMS2902-2E1GE-BL works properly, there is no LOS alarm generated on the
optical interface if the optical interface is connected properly.
