operationand shouldlastforuptofiveyears. Thebatteryisadrybatterythatshouldnot
leakorcauseanydamagetoyourengine.
Ifenginesoundsseemdistorted
orgarbledatlowvoltagesorbecomesilentwhenpowerfromthetransformeristurned
off,testthebatterytodeterminewhetheritshouldberechargedorreplaced.
Puttheengineinneutralandleavethetrackvoltageat10-12volts(high
enoughforthelightstoshinebrightlyandtheenginetomovesteadily)for15
minutes.
Ifthesoundsareimprovedattheendofthe15-minutetestcharge,the
batterychargehasrundownandcanberecharged. Thereareanumberofwaysyou
candothis:
Leavetheengineinneutralwithtrackvoltageat10-12voltsfor6-7hoursso
thebatterycanfullyrecharge(ifyourenginehasasmokeunit,besureitis
turnedoff).
UseM.T.H.'sbatteryrecharger(soldseparately)thatplugsintoawalloutletand
a specialportunderthetendertorechargethebatteryovernightwithoutleaving
itonthetrack.
Ifthesoundsarenotimprovedattheendofthe15-minutetestcharge,itis
timetoreplacethebatt
replacementarrives,butsincealkalinebatteries
cannotberecharged,itwilleventuallyweardown.
Dependinguponwhenyourenginewas
built,itmayneedtobechargedrightoutofthebox.
