VI. Placing the collar on your pet
Place receiver collar on your dog with the receiver hanging directly beneath
your dog’s neck. Adjust the collar securely so that the probes touch the skin
of your dog’s neck. Make sure the collar is not so tight as to cause discomfort.
When the collar is properly adjusted, you should be able to place one finger
between the probes and the dog’s skin.
You are now ready to begin training!
VII. Setting the correction level
• Remove the switch cover shown in Figure 5.
• Press the button and hold the button. The
LED indicator light will come on.
• Release the button and the LED will flash the
current correction level.
• Press the button again within 5 seconds, and
the correction level will be incremented to the next level.
• Repeat this process until you obtain the correction level you want.
• Refer to the Receiver LED function and response table to choose the
correction level that best fits your pet.
• The receiver is equipped with memory back up. After you replace the
batteries in the receiver, you will not have to reset the correction level. The
LED indicator light will flash for the correction level last set.

Caution: Do not leave collar on too tight. Doing so can cause Pressure
Necrosis, a condition that results in skin deterioration. Check your
pet’s collar regularly. Remove the collar weekly and wash your dog’s
neck and probes with mild soap (approved by a veterinarian). If a rash
or sores form, take the collar off for a few days. When replacing it,
make sure that it is not too tight.

VIII. Amaestramiento de su perro
Consejos para el amaestramiento
• Antes de colocar el collar a su animal doméstico, y antes de comenzar
cualquier amaestramiento, por favor lea la sección de amaestramiento y mire
el vídeo.
• Aunque su perro parezca estar amaestrado después de uno o dos días, es
importante continuar el amaestramiento durante el período completo de 30
días.
• Durante el período de amaestramiento su perro deberá ser limitado por
otros medios, y solamente deberá permitírsele estar en el jardín con el lazo.
No deberá permitírsele a su perro cruzar libremente el límite en ningún
momento durante el amaestramiento.
• El amaestramiento puede ser muy agotador para su perro. Por lo tanto,
limite los períodos de amaestramiento a 10 ó 15 minutos.
• Si su perro se muestra vacilante con respecto al proceso de amaestramiento,
quítele el collar receptor y continúe el amaestramiento el próximo día, y
después altérnelo día por medio.
Banderillas de límite para amaestramiento.
Las banderillas sirven como un límite visual temporario para usted y su perro.
Las banderillas se quitarán luego, cuando su perro se haya familiarizado con
la “zona de seguridad”.
Amaestramiento para respetar límites.
1) Sostenga el receptor en una mano con la caja paralela al
piso y el logotipo “PetSafe” mirando hacia el límite, y usando
un lazo, haga caminar a su perro hacia el límite. Sacuda la
banderilla de límite y dé a su perro un firme
comando “NO”, permitiéndole escuchar
el sonido del receptor.
2) Guíelo nuevamente hacia adentro
del jardín y alábelo.
3) Repita los pasos 1 y 2 alrededor de todo el límite.
4) Luego de un período corto de descanso/juego, colóquele a su perro el
collar receptor y otro collar sujeto a un lazo.
5) Permítale a su perro experimentar una corrección, caminando solo hacia el
campo con señales. Luego, cuando escuche el sonido, guíelo inmediatamente
hacia atrás, dentro de la zona de seguridad y alábelo. No “aliente” a su perro
a cruzar el límite, pues lo va a confundir. Si su perro no se atreve a entrar
solo en el campo con señales, pida a alguna otra persona que cruce el límite,
y permita a su perro seguirla.
Nota: al ajustar la posición del selector para reducir la distancia
del límite, asegúrese de girar el selector lentamente, en pequeños
incrementos.
• Una vez que el límite esté fijado correctamente en el punto más crítico,
verifique el resto del límite.
• Las banderillas deberán ser colocadas a intervalos de 3 m a lo largo de todo
el borde del límite, utilizando el receptor como su guía.
• Antes de colocar el collar a su animal doméstico, y antes de comenzar
cualquier amaestramiento, lea la sección de amaestramiento y mire el vídeo.
