Typographical Conventions
The following typographical conventions are used in the user’s guide:
n
Menu items are displayed in the format: “Array Configuration menu, choose View
Unused Drives.”
n
Code font
will indicate literal text used in examples.
n
Italic code font
indicates a replaceable or variable item in code.
n
Italic text indicates the item that is selected or chosen.
n
Key strokes are enclosed in brackets, e.g., <Esc>, <K>, or <Enter>.

The OmniStor 4700S Series RAID Storage Systems are designed for lower cost high
capacity or high performance applications.
The following are major features of the OmniStor 4700S Series Storage Systems:

Ultra320 SCSI-to-Serial ATA storage system enclosure.

Hot pluggable Serial ATA disk drives, 12 per enclosure.

Hot pluggable cooling fan module which includes dual in-line fans.

A standard AC power supply with an option for a redundant second power supply.

Optional DC power supply with an option for a redundant second power supply.
n
Supports SAF-TE, an industry standard enclosure management and onboard
environmental monitoring.
n
Designed to fit standard 19-inch rack enclosures or a deskside tower.
n
Front panel LEDs provide notifications of system component status, and logical
and physical drive status.

SCSI-SATA RAID Controller employs an Intel XScale 600MHz RISC processor.
n
512 MB or 1GB cache memory using 266MHz DDR SDRAM.
n
Dual 8-port Serial ATA 1.5 Gb disk controllers.
n
Dual Ultra320 MB/sec Ultra-LVD SCSI ports with four VHD/CI SCSI port
connectors. Two ports available for expansion.

Supports 12 drives per array
