Build the six hog chutes* by bending the chutes (K.1) as
shown in the drawing. Glue the hog chute base (J.1) to the
inside bottom of the chute, then glue the four sides of the
hog chute together. Paint the outside Reefer Gray with a
Black interior. One chute
will glue under each swing
saw inside the roller frame.
The other four hog chutes
will be used later.
The swing saws are placed
on the main sawmill floor
inline with the back roller
of the edgers; the front
edge of the swing saws
should be close to the
short edger roller. Double
check the location using
the overhead belt frame
that is discussed on page 17. The center drive wheels that
will be on the overhead belt frame should line up over the
small drive wheel on the back of the swing saw. The top
photo on page 12 shows the swing saw at the right. Mark
the location for the hog chute and glue it and the swing saw
in place, one on the left and one on the right.

* - The hog chutes direct scrap pieces of wood down to the hog that is on the first floor of the mill. The hog
is a grinder that makes chips of the wood before sending them to the slash burner.
