QM1004-2-18 Combined RF Upconverter/Downconverter
User Manual
2.4 FREQuency:LO1:DIVider <numeric value>
Note:
This v6 command replaces the FREQ:REF:DIV command available in previous hardware versions.
The GUI currently supporting v4, v5, and v6 hardware uses both commands to maintain support, while
v6 hardware only uses this latest command.
This command allows the user to set the QM1004-2-18 LO1 reference divider value for both channels.
The allowed values are integers between 1 and 16383. The reference divider is used to set the resolution
of the tune frequency step size while operating in integer mode. The frequency step size in integer mode
is
𝑓
𝑟𝑒𝑓
𝑁
*
𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑐𝑎𝑙𝑒𝑟
. In the QM1004-2-18, the
𝑟𝑒𝑓 𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑓 𝑟𝑒𝑞𝑢𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑦
(
𝑓
𝑟𝑒𝑓
)
is fixed at 100 MHz and the
hardware
𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑐𝑎𝑙𝑒𝑟
is fixed at 4. This results in the integer mode tuning resolution being
400
𝑁
, where
𝑁
is
the reference divider value. It is recommended to use a divider of 1 when operating in fractional mode.
Note: Phase noise will increase as the reference divider value increases.

Example
:FREQ:LO1:DIV 2
This command sets the LO reference divider of the QM1004-2-18
to 2
.
Default Condition
On power up, or when a
*RST
command is issued, the QM1004-2-18 LO reference divider returns to the
boot state’s setting. The Combined RF Upconverter/Downconverter default setting is 1.
Query
:FREQ:LO1:DIV?
This query returns the value of the QM1004-2-18 LO reference divider.
Error Message
If the parameter is not in the recognized format, error
-102, "Syntax error"
occurs.
If the parameter is not between 10 and 250, error
-222, "Data out of range"
occurs.
