Cautions
•
Eye protection is mandatory.
•
Use thermal gloves or tongs to remove items from their heated surfaces.
•
Oven exterior walls and doors may become hot to the touch when operating
at higher set temperatures.
•
Turn off when not in use. Do not leave the oven unattended during operation.
•
Do not use the oven with any flammable solvents or gasses or in proximity to
any flammable solvents, gasses or materials.
•
Do not sue oven while standing in water or if cords appear frayed or burnt.
Description and Uses
The lab oven is used in the printmaking studio to cure and harden emulsions and
films on copper plates.
Standard Operation
Note: only those individuals that have received proper instruction are allowed to use
the lab oven. Please refer to training demonstrations for specifics about materials and
settings.
Heating the Oven
1.
Ensure that the area is clean and clear of combustible materials.

Switch on the ON/OFF power switch
3.
The oven comes with a dual-‐range “quick-‐set” knob dial. The dial is marked
with Fahrenheit and Celsius temperatures. Rotate the thermostat dial to the
desired temperature. The heat cycle light will cycle on and off while the oven
maintains its temperature.
4.
It may take up to 20 minutes for the oven to reach optimal temperature.
