Chapter 2 — Installing Hardware

Left-side HDD

1. Remove the chassis cover. See

Removing the Chassis Cover

on page 12.

2. Remove the dummy cover from the DVD-ROM bay.

Note:

If the DVD-ROM Combo is installed, see

Replacing the DVD-ROM Combo

on page

25 for instructions on removal.

3. Remove the securing screw from the HDD carrier.

4. Lift the carrier straight up to remove it from the chassis.

5. Install the HDD into the carrier using the securing screws provided in the accessories box.

6. Place the carrier into the chassis and insert the securing screw to hold the carrier in place.

Note:

Ensure that the HDD connectors face toward the center of the server’s front section.

7. Connect the power and interface cables to the HDD.

8. Reinstall the dummy cover in the DVD-ROM bay.

9. Replace the chassis cover. See
