5.11 Adjusting the operative temperature
Pump series EU W are equipped with a water/oil cooler; on the water circuit
a thermostatic valve is installed (Fig.1) for the regulation of the water
throughput according to the required different cooling requirements.
The specifications of the cooling water are shown below::
Minimum / Maximum water pressure
bar
2 / 6
Water consumption
l/h
200-300
Water temperature
°C
10-30
Water hardness
°fH

The thermostatic valve is set by P.V.R. on the position 3 in order to
guarantee a pump operating temperature of 80°C (ambient temperature
20°C - water temperature 15°C). The valve can be set in one position
from 1 to 5 on the grounds of the foreseen application. Position one
corresponds to a greater water quantity at the cooler inlet and therefore
to a higher cooling of the pump, the position No. 5 corresponds to a
smaller rate of water for a lower thermal exchange. For the setting turn
the knob counter-clockwise to rise the temperature and clockwise to
reduce it.

6.9 How to service the cooling circuit.
WARNING
: Carry out the maintenance operations only with the
pump not operating and at a safe temperature
To guarantee the maximum performance of the cooler, it is advisable to
inspect the water circuit and remove any traces of limestone or impurities.
For cleaning, proceed as follows:
1)
Drain the oil from the pump (see 6.2);
2)
Disconnect the pump from the water circuit (see 5.10);
3)
Drain the water from the heat exchanger removing the fittings on the
inlet/outlet water pipes (side water); remove Thermostatic valve (see Fig.1);
4)
Proceed with the cleaning by flushing the tubes with descaler anti-scale
out in the opposite direction of the normal flow for about 30 minutes. Then
flush them out with hot water in order to remove all the residues left;
5)
Reassemble Thermostatic valve, the cooler and re-pipe the cooling
circuits.
NOTE
: Follow the local rules for the treatment and the disposal
of the chemical products and the norms for the protection of the
environment.
WARNING: In case of machine downtime during the winter
period, drain the cooling water circuit (Fig.2) to prevent the formation
of ice in the system.

TROUBLE
CAUSE
REMEDY
Inefficient cooling
Lack of water in the cooling circuit
Check the circuit and the water supply
Inefficient pump cooling circuit
Check the correct operation of the pump cooling circuit (heat
exchanger and pipes), if they are scaled, clean them (see 6.9).
Lack of lubrication
Check oil level and conditions (see 6.2). Top up the oil level or
change it. Check if the oil filter is clogged. If necessary, replace
it.
