Flow limit
The diameter of the pipe and the flow rate determine the nominal diameter of the sensor. The
optimum flow velocity is between 2 to 3 m/s (6.56 to 9.84 ft/s). Also match the velocity of flow (v)
to the physical properties of the fluid:
• v < 2 m/s (6.56 ft/s): for abrasive fluids (e.g. potter's clay, lime milk, ore slurry)
• v > 2 m/s (6.56 ft/s): for fluids producing buildup (e.g. wastewater sludges)
For an overview of the measuring range full scale values, see the "Measuring range" section
Pressure loss
• No pressure loss occurs if the sensor is installed in a pipe with the same nominal diameter.
• Pressure losses for configurations incorporating adapters according to DIN EN 545 (→ 27)
System pressure
• Never install the sensor on the pump suction side in order to avoid the risk of low pressure, and
thus damage to the liner.
• Furthermore, install pulse dampers if reciprocating, diaphragm or peristaltic pumps are used.
• For information on the liner's resistance to partial vacuum (→ 33)

Vibrations
In the event of very strong vibrations, the pipe and sensor must be supported and fixed.
It is also advisable to mount the sensor and transmitter separately.
