Stand-alone Configuration
In a stand alone (server only) configuration, the PoINT Publisher ap
plications, the licensed options and extensions are only available on
the server system.
Client/Server Configuration
The setup process of PoINT Publisher allows to install the client com
ponent of PoINT Publisher on other computers in the network. To
support these client installations of PoINT Publisher a License Key is
required which includes the Clients Options which enables cli
ent/server operation.
In a client/server configuration, you need one additional license for
each client. In this context, a client is identified by the user's login
name and the corresponding computer name. A client license is a
“floating license” which is not bound to a specific user, or computer.
If a client wants to establish a connection to a server, an unused client
license is needed. A list of all users with an assigned client license can
be displayed in the PoINT Publisher
Server under menu ‘View’, ‘Con
nected Clients’. A connected client can add jobs and modify the job
list (in respect to his user rights) or start a PoINT Publisher applica
tion. The client license is marked as used as long as the client is con
nected to the server or one of the user’s jobs in the job list is not fin
ished.
In the column titled 'Queued by' of the main PoINT Publisher win
dow the name of the user who has added the job is displayed.

Concept and Usage
PoINT Publisher consists of the components ”PoINT Publisher
Server”, ”PoINT Publisher Client”, ” Image Builder”, ”Copy Builder”,
”CDaudio Builder” and "PoINT Event Controlled Recording" (ECR).
The builders are used to prepare and to create Disc Images. A Disc
Image is a file containing all information (layout and data) that define
the content of a disc as well as specifications like the number of copies
that shall be made and the label that shall be printed to the disc.
”Image Builder” supports the creation of Disc Images from file and di
rectory trees, ”Copy Builder” copies existing discs to a Disc Image, and
”CDaudio Builder” assists you in mastering digital audio CDs.
