9. Secure the quick-stand head to the extension tube with a bolt, washer and
locking nut (#7, 2 and 3). Fully tighten the nut using a 9/16 in. wrench,
while using another 9/16 in. wrench to hold the bolt head steady.
a. Some trailers have a spare tire mounted under the A-frame, which can
impede the retraction of the quick-stand. Replace the bolt, washer and
nut with a 2-3/4 in. square PTO lock pin (not included). The quick-
stand extension can be removed before travel and replaced for use.
i. You can also cut the length of the quick-stand’s extension leg,
but you will have to drill new holes
to install it to the base plate.
10. Install the base plate to the extension leg with
the lock pin provided. The quick-stand should
now be installed with the quick-stand in the
‘travel’ (up) position (Fig. 5).
SETUP OPTIONS
Short Quick-Stand
Reduce the length of the quick-stand extension leg to accommodate a trailer
hitch that sits closer to the ground. The other option is to exchange the hitch for
a raised hitch, but this may interfere with a vehicle’s rear door or gate.
To reduce the quick-stand extension.
1. Determine the height difference between the existing extension set up and
the hitch.
2. Remove the base plate (#4) from the quick-stand extension leg.
3. Measure and cut the excess off from the lower part of the extension leg.
Ensure the cut is a 90° angle so the end will sit flat in the base plate to
distribute the trailer’s weight.
4. Drill new holes to attach the base plate (see Drilling Holes for the Quick-Stand).
5. Attach the base plate to the shortened leg and secure with the lock pin.
Replace the Base Plate with a Wheel
A trailer jack wheel can be substituted for the base plate, but the weight capacity
of the trailer jack is limited to the wheel’s weight capacity. Please consult with
the trailer jack’s wheel’s installation instructions and safety sections.
