This power Unit consists of a hydraulic pump and gas engine. For safe and optimum
performance please consult a trained individual for correct system design. Please
call any of ours stores or 1-800-665-8685 if you require any technical assistance.
1.
As a general guideline, the reservoir size should be at 3 gallons or higher.
2.
The optim um s ystem operating temperature is between 120 °F to 140
°F and should not exceed180 °F. For every 18 °F over 140 °F the useful
life of the oil is cut in half. If the oil temperature is exceeding 140 °F
the reservoir may be too small or a heat exchanger may be required.
3.
Select a standard quality, mineral based hydraulic oil suitable for the
temperature range the power unit will be operating in.
4.
Install a 10 micron hydraulic filter in the system and 100 mesh suction filter
in the reservoir to protect the hydraulic pump. Regularly change the filter
and clean the suction filter based on the manufacturers
recommendations. Note: The standard 10 micron, cellulose filter, 5-1/2”
long should be changed after the first 25 hours of use then every 100
hours after.
5.
Size your hydraulic hoses according to the recommendations below:
Suction Hose (Inlet)*
The suction hose length should be kept less than 3 feet to avoid aeration or
cavitation of the pump.
The ID of the hose should be no less than ½ ”
*
The reservoir should be higher than the pump so it provides a flooded inlet
condition to the suction side of the pump.
Pressure Hose (Outlet)
The pressure hose should be SAE 2-wire or of a construction capable of 3,000
PSI maximum pressure. It should be kept as short as possible to avoid
unnecessary back pressure.
The ID of the hose should be no less than ½ ”
6.
Properl y c onnect your hydraulic hoses to the power unit.
7.
Install a relief valve with the relief pressure set at a maximum of 2250 PSI.
8.
Fill approximately 80% of the reservoir with hydraulic oil.
9.
Check the engine oil before operating the equipment. Add engine oil
if necessary. (See the engine manual for additional information and
servicing guidelines.)
10.
Make sure all the fittings and connections are properly tightened
before operating the equipment.
11.
The first time you start the power unit let it run under no load for a least 5
minutes while you cycle the actuator(s) so any entrained air in the system will
be removed.
