PowlVac® ASD 27kV & 38kV Vacuum Circuit Breaker
IB-65100
Recommended Renewal Parts and Replacement Procedures
f. Install the UV assembly device ensuring
that it is in full contact with the
mounting surface. Attach the UV using
the two 5/16-18 x 3/4 HEX head bolt, flat
washers and lock washers.
g. Connect the wire lead on the UV
assembly to the wire lead on the circuit
breaker harness.
h. Install the jackshaft collar to the
jackshaft with the hardware supplied
(4 - 8/32 x 5/8 socket cap screw). Do NOT
tighten the screws at this point.
i. Slide the collar assembly along the
jackshaft until the operating link slot
is aligned and engaged with the rivet
located on the UV rocker arm. Rotate
the UV rocker arm and collar assembly
until the spring located on the solenoid
plunger is fully compressed. Securely
tighten the four screws holding the
jackshaft collar halves together.
j. Find the two dip switches on the
bottom side of the relay. Ensure
the switch on the left is set for
“UNDERLOAD” and the switch on the
right is set for “WITHOUT MEMORY”.
k. Adjust the relay time delay, top dial “T1”
to 1. Adjust the relay voltage, middle
dial “U” to 70 volts. Adjust the relay
hysteresis, bottom dial to 20%.

3) Closing Spring Removal
and reinstall
the main closing spring.
m. Test the UV assembly to ensure that it
is set properly and that the relay drops
out at 70V. If further adjustments are
needed, refer to the middle dial “U” on
the relay.
n. Reinstall the escutcheon plate and front
cover of the circuit breaker.
6) Charging Motor Assembly
This assembly is located lower right hand
side of the mechanism (Figure 6, i).
CAUTION
CAUTION
!
Ensure that the control circuits are
deenergized and the circuit breaker is
deenergized, disconnected by means of a
visible break, and securely grounded. Do NOT
start to work on a closed circuit breaker or a
circuit breaker with the main closing spring
charged.
Perform the following steps to replace the
charging motor assembly:
a. Remove the front cover of the circuit
breaker.
b. Disconnect the charging motor
assembly from the wiring harness.
c. Remove the two bolts holding the
motor mounting bracket to the base
pan and slide the motor to the right,
disconnecting the motor shaft from the
mechanism, and lift the motor out.
d. Lubricate the end of the shaft of the
new charging motor generously with
Rheolube 368A grease.
e. Position the new assembly in the circuit
breaker, making sure that the pin on the
end of the drive shaft engages the slot
in the mechanism shaft.
f. Bolt the assembly to the base pan and
connect it into the wiring harness.
g. Operate the circuit breaker several
times to ensure that the charging motor
assembly operates smoothly.
h. Replace the front cover.
