4.1

Temperature Considerations

The 5-card shelf enclosure is made of an insulating material, which under normal 
operating conditions (i.e., shelf closed) results in a higher temperature internally 
than externally (ambient room temperature). Therefore, special care must be 
taken to ensure that the internal temperature never exceeds the operating 
temperature of each card.

This section provides a procedure for the calculation of the temperature inside the 
shelf. An example follows the procedure.

For a list of the thermal specifications for all Teleline cards designed for use with 
the 5-card Shelf, see Table 16 on page 53.
