2.5 Principles of Operation
The Radiation Detector module continuously measures the ambient dose equivalent rate

and the ambient dose equivalent
Н*(10) of gamma- and X-ray radiation and the dose
accumulation time.
If the preset thresholds of the dose rate or/and the dose are exceeded the unit produces audible
and visual alarms (on display).
When the CWA Module is activated, the ambient air is pumped through an ionizing chamber by
a micropump, and CWA vapors in air are monitored. To separate two types of CWA
(organophosphorus compounds and arsenic-containing compound) the polarity of voltage signals
is determined.
If the preset level of organophosphorus compounds (sarin, soman, V-gases) is exceeded, the
instrument produces an audible signal and displays a visual signal on the yellow LEDs bar.
If the preset level of arsenic-containing compound (lewisite) is exceeded, the instrument
produces an audible signal and displays a visual signal on the red LEDs bar.
The operation history is saved in the non-volatile memory of the unit and can be transferred to a
PC by infrared link for data viewing and programming.
